Tasting Note
Burhgound 90, June 2020
Smoky, cool and elegant aromas are composed primarily of various white orchard fruit, acacia blossom, citrus rind, wood and a hint of exotic tea. The racy, intense and admirably concentrated flavors possess very good volume as well as an appealing minerality that adds a sense of lift to the sneaky long, balanced and firm finale. This too is lovely and a wine that will need at least a few years of cellaring as it's presently fairly tightly wound.
Winemaking
Latour Giraud covers 10ha of vineyards, producing roughly 80% whites and 20 % reds. The rare red Meursault - Fruit harvested near Volnay Caillerets
100% Pinot Noir all destemmed. Aged for 15months in 25% new oak.
Winery
The history of domaine Latour-Giraud extends over three centuries and goes up at the end of XVII. The current generation in charge is Jean-Pierre Latour who first started working in the cellar back in 1983, then took over the domaine in 93.
