Led by Roman Horvath MW and Heinz Frischengruber, Domane Wachau has developed into one of the top estates in Austria.
The vineyards are found on steep terraces reinforced by old, dry-stone walls, and are part of a World Cultural Heritage. These vineyards are farmed sustainably by vintner families who are part of the cooperative that supply the Estate with exceptional quality grapes.
Famous names like ‘Achleiten’, ‘Kollmitz’ and ‘Loibenberg’ are found on the Domäne Wachau’s vineyard map, making it the only winery with wines from all of the most prestigious sites in the region.
Primary rock soil, an exceptional climate and terraces overlooking the Danube River have great influence on the tremendous quality of the Wachau wines.
Riesling Terrassen Federspiel
Riesling: Terrassen are grapes from primary rock sites that are too small for a single vineyard wine, so they are blended together.
The majority of the grapes come from the vineyards surrounding Spitz, Dürnstein and Weissenkirchen.
In the cellar, the grapes are carefully selected and then processed in a pneumatic tank press, with the must then fermented under controlled temperature and aged on their fine lees in stainless steel tank. 3.4g/l of residual sugar (Dry)
