Founded in 1877 by Don Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, the Estate currently farms over 100 hectares of vines near the Ebro River in Haro.

Lopez de Heredia is known for its traditional winemaking approach that passed from generation to generation. Since 1877 the Estate still produces it's own oak barrels with oak sourced from the Appalachian mountains in the United States.

In the cellar the grapes are 100% destemmed, and transferred to large oak vats (240 hectolitres) for maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeast. The wines are transferred to oak barriques for malolactic fermentation where it stays for 5 months. The ageing process takes from a minimum of 3 years to a maximum of 10 years for the Gran Reservas. The wines than are bottled and spend a minimum of 6 months in bottle before being released to the market.

Vina Tondonia Reserva

The wine is produced from the amphitheater shaped Tondonia vineyard situated at 489m of altitude in the right bank of the Ebro River, planted in a mix alluvium and limestone soil with 45 years of age in average.

A blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacho and 10% Mazuelo and Graciano, all from estate grown fruit.

Bosconia reserva ages for 6 years in american oak barrels, racked twice a year and fined before bottling.
