With the money obtained from the sale of a patent, Alejandro Fernández and Esperanza Rivera bought a small, 16th-century stone winery. In 1972, the group began to produce its first wines using grapes grown on these lands.
The first vintage was produced in 1975, and the wine called Tinto Pesquera. By 1985 the wines from Fernandez Rivera started to travel to world and be recognized by consumers and wine critics as some of the best produced in Spain.
In 2019 the granddaughters of Esperanza and Alejandro took over the reins of this winemaking group, that nowadays own 4 wineries and 1 hotel in Ribera del Duero.
Pesquera Crianza
The fruit for the Tinto Pesquera Crianza is selected from the domaine vineyards located in Roa and La Horra at 800 metres altitude, planted in mostly clay-loam, and limestone soils.
The wine was aged 14 months in American oak barrels, then 6 months in bottle before being released onto the market.
