Chateau Musar, 2000, 750ML

Back in 1930 after traveling to Bordeaux, Gaston Hochar decided to plant vineyards in the mountains of the Bekaa Valley 15 miles north of Beirut, Lebanon.

Overlooking the Mediterranean the vineyards were originally planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Carignan and the indigenous Lebanese grapes Obaideh and Merwah.

In 1959 Gaston son Serge after stydying enology in Bordeaux took over the administration of the Estate.

The wines started to gain recognition in the early 1980’s after Decanter Magazine published a dedicated article about it.

Chateau Musar 1^st wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault, is fermented in concrete vats, matured for 12 months in French Oak and aged for 36 months in Musar’s cellars before being released to the market.
