Joseph Phelps' flagship Insignia, was launched in 1974. It's made from a combination of vineyards in different locations of Napa Valley: Las Rocas (Stags Leap District), Suscol (South Napa), Yountville (Oak Knoll District), Barboza (Stags Leap District) and Home Ranch (St. Helena).
It is a blend based on Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller amounts of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec (with % varying every vintage)
2011 - 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec, 2% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc.
24 months in 100% new French oak from coopers Taransaud, Dargaud Jaegle, Nadalie, Demptos, Marcel Cadet and Sylvain before bottling in February 2014
