The estate is considered to be one of the oldest in the Médoc with winmaking history dating back to the 16th Century. In 1767 Baron de Saint Pierre bought the Chateau and gave it his name. The estate was separated after the daughther of Baron St Pierre solde their shares, and was unified again in 1982 by Henri Martin.

Saint Pierre is classified as a 4th Cru on the 1855 classification. The Estate owns only 17 hectares and it's the smallest classified Chateau in Saint Julien.

At 17 hectares, Chateau Saint Pierre is the smallest classified estate in the appellation. The vineyard can be divided into 4 main blocks with parcels spread all over the appellation.

The vineyards are divided in 4 blocks near Ducru Beaucaillou and Beychevelle, and the wine is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc

Fermented in traditional in stainless steel, temperature-controlled tanks and matured from 14 to 16 months in oak casks, of which 50% are new.
