Jean Chauvenet Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Perrieres, 2010, 750ML

Jean Chauvenet is a 9-hectare, family-owned estate managed since 1994 by Christine and Christophe Drag, after the retirement of Jean Chauvenet, who founded the business in 1964.

Since 1994 the domaine has minimize the use of chemicals in the vineyard and have worked towards organic and sustainable viticulture. Cover crop is being used to reduce the effect of erosion.

NSG 1er Cru Les Perrieres around 1200 bottles are produced from a 0.23ha parcel of 80 years old vines, planted directly above les Poirets.

This is considered a high altitude vineyard in NSG, resulting in wines with exceptional balance, considerable density and richness of fruit and great ageing capacity.

Vinification is classic with 100% destemming and a brief period of cold maceration followed by two to three weeks staging in large wooden vats.

After fermentation the wine is moved into small barrels where the malolactic occurs. The maturation last around 18 months in 25% new oak and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
