Domaine Santa Duc was founded in 1874, and has been one of references for quality in Gigondas since 1980's when the 4th generation of the family Yves Gras took over the domaine. The name comes from Grand-Duc, the largest European owl who lives and sings during the night in the area.
The 30 hectare estate is now biodynamically farmed and certified. In Gigondas the domaine owns 13 ha of prime vineyards including 2 lieux-dits, Les Hautes Garrigues and Clos Derriere Vielle.
Gigondas Prestige des Hautes Garrigues is a blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, 3% Syrah, and 2% Cinsault from a single plot around the winery.
Winemaking is hands off with fermentation in stainless steel with a proportion of stems and aged in a mix of large oak casks (Foudres) and Amphora.
