The years in 9 regularly mark the memory of winegrowers and this vintage was no exception. After an early bud burst flowering was gradual, and good conditions followed during this hot season. There was little water stress, and harvested happened at regular date.
A blend of 30% Grenache 30% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 10% Couniose, 10% (Vaccarese, Terret Noir, Muscardin, Clairette, Picpoul, Picardan, Bourboulenc and Roussanne) and 5% Cinsault.
For 5 generations the Family Perrin vinifies the wines from Chateau de Beaucastel. The chateau covers 130ha, but only 100ha are planted with all the 13 grape varieties authorized by the appellation with a higher proportion of mourvedre usually.
Mourvedre and Syrah are vinified in large oak fermenters with only Syrah exposed to some new oak. The rest of the grapes are vinified in concrete tanks, all varieties are vinified separately and later blended. The wines age in large oak foudres for 12 months before bottling.
The domaine was one of the very first to practice organic viticulture in 1950 and biodynamic in 1974. Organic, biodynamic
