Beychevelle's 85 hectares of vineyards are located in the far south of the St-Julien appellation, just outside the hamlet of St-Julien-Beychevelle.
The second wine, Amiral de Beychevelle was launched in 1950’s. However in those days, perhaps only 4% of the wine was placed into the second wine.
Despite being made from young vines, Amiral de Beychevelle benefits from the same growing techniques, meticulous sorting, and traditional barrel ageing.
Cabernet Sauvignon 58%, Merlot 38%, Cabernet Franc 6%
Matured for 12-14 months in 30% new oak barrels.
