Back in 1930 after traveling to Bordeaux, Gaston Hochar decided to plant vineyards in the mountains of the Bekaa Valley 15 miles north of Beirut, Lebanon.

Overlooking the Mediterranean the vineyards were originally planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Carignan and the indigenous Lebanese white grapes Obaideh and Merwah.

In 1959 Gaston son Serge after studying oenology in Bordeaux took over the administration of the Estate.

The wines started to gain recognition in the early 1980’s after Decanter Magazine published a dedicated article about it.

Chateau Musar White is a blend of Obaideh and Merwah, fermented in French oak barriques (from the forest of Nevers) for 9 months, bottled and blended at the end of its first year and released seven years after the harvest.
