Tasting Note
Wine Advocate 94 points, William Kelley, 27 April 2018
From barrel, the 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrieres offers up a lovely nose of green pear, apple, chamomile and wheat toast, framed by light reduction which dissipates in the glass. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, bright and penetrating, with a lovely line of acidity, good depth and concentration, and nice chalky grip on the long finish. This was one of the highlights of Pierre-Yves Colin’s range from barrel, and it is equally compelling from bottle. Among Pierre-Yves’ higher-appellation 2015s, which were all bottled in April 2017, it’s also one of the more forthcoming in its youth, though its true potential will only be realized with bottle age
Winemaking
Winery
Pierre-Yves's winemaking journey began in 1994 when he joined his father's winery, Domaine Marc Colin, as a winemaker. During his time there, he established a successful negociant operation in 2001, together with his wife Caroline Morey, who hails from the esteemed winemaking family of Jean-Marc Morey. Building upon this foundation, Pierre Yves Colin Morey established his own eponymous domaine in 2006, nestled in the heart of Burgundy.
With a deep understanding of Burgundy's terroir and a passion for winemaking, Pierre Yves Colin Morey crafts wines that embody the essence of the region and showcase the unique character and complexity that Burgundy is renowned for.
