Tasting Note
Winemaking Winery
-
The vines are grown organically.
- Mechanical labour of the soil. They are pruned in simple guyot with long sticks and disbudded every other eye, so the bunches end up beautiful and airy.
-
Grapes harvested by hand in crates, sorted on a sorting table and destemmed at 100%, the whole berries are conveyed into vats in small stainless steel wagons so as not to crush the raw material.
-
15 months ageing: 15% new barrels and 40% in large barrels (22 hectolitres - Rousseau 2013), 60% Burgundy wines (Taransaud, Stockinger, Hermitage)
Winery
The origin of name "Au Pied du Mont Chauve" was born in the late 2000s when the Picard family-owned vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, and Puligny-Montrachet.
The name was inspired by the hill of Montrachet, nicknamed "Mont Chauve." With a wealth of vineyards in these prestigious wine-growing areas, "Au Pied du Mont Chauve" boasts twenty renowned climates like Les Demoiselles and Les Caillerets.
Emphasizing synergy between terroir and wine, the vineyards have been biodynamically cultivated for years, with a focus on natural vinification. The wines from Au Pied du Mont Chauve are chiseled, delicate, and expressive, reflecting precision and elegance. Through meticulous aging, these wines offer a rare combination of density and freshness, unveiling a palate of exceptional finesse.
