Spanning 900 years of history, Clos de Vougeot tells the story of the origins of Burgundy’s terroir. As early as the 11th century, Cistercian monks planted Pinot Noir here and, with an experimental spirit, studied the soil and microclimate—laying the foundation for the modern concept of “terroir.” As the largest Grand Cru vineyard in the Côte de Nuits, Clos de Vougeot possesses a remarkably intricate and diverse terroir, giving rise to captivating wines of great stylistic range and delicate complexity.
