Tasting Note
Winemaking
Silex, derived from the term "flint," predominantly characterizes the soil type in the vicinity of Saint-Andelain, the home of the Dagueneau family. This particular cuvée originates from a sole vineyard plot situated atop the hill of Saint-Andelain. The vines in this location boast an age range of 60 to 90 years old.
About 8,000 bottles are produced every year.
Winery
Didier Dagueneau was the "wild man of Pouilly" before his untimely demise in 2008. He was on a quest to reestablish Pouilly-Fume's reputation for high-quality Sauvignon Blanc. His wines established a cult following, and now his son, Louis-Benjamin, is following in his footsteps and carrying on his legacy. In his hands, the wines remain very expressive but have gained a new level of precision.
